How it Started

We started in June, 1995, rented the Florence VFW for 8 years! We set it up with chairs then pews just like we owned the building! The old soldiers enjoyed coming into our church for their monthly meeting! I had dreamed of looking at a building and in my dream, I said to the man showing it to me,” I think that this will do! When I met Mr Wallace about it, he said what do you think, Preacher? I replied, I think this will do! Bro Bobby Taylor found the property we now have and we were able to pay for it! There was another 2 acres tied to the property but that had already been sold! We had approximately 150 trees removed and did the dozier work to cut down the hill for a foundation pad! Plans were drawn, building was ordered! Concrete pad installed and building began to be erected! Myself,  Brother Kenneth Wilson ( who pastored at Georgetown) men in church began to erect the walls and hang Sheetrock! Once the air units were installed we began to hang the ceilings! This was in 2003/2004! We moved into the fellowship hall until we could finish the rest of the building! We were finally able to have our church dedication in September, 2005! Bro James Carney preached it and we had about 120 people for that! Money was raised at the dedication to put on the front porch!  Brother Slaughter and AAA Asphalt would pave our parking lot within the last few years! We were able to purchase a beautiful lighted sign not too long ago! We have seen many people pass through our doors since building the church! Many stayed with us, some moved on , some passed to their eternal reward ! I forgot to mention that before I left our home church ( were there 10 years and helped to build it) I had dreamed of this property and  building, it was like I was flying over viewing the building and I could see a chandelier in the foyer! God had put me construction trades that would equip me to work on the building!  Now Pastor Slaughter is getting ready to add the second phase of the building, I will work in advisory role! My days of hanging metal studs and Sheetrock are past but excited to see it completed!
