How it Started
First Apostolic Church started in June of 1995 when Bishop Ricky James and his wife rented the Florence VFW and held services there for 8 years; setting it up with chairs, then pews. However, God had more in mind for our church.

One night, God gave Bishop James a dream where he was flying over a building that was sitting on a hill. In this dream, he remembers saying “I think this will do.” After the dream, Bro. Bobby Taylor found the property and Bishop James met a man named Mr. Wallace about purchasing the land. During the meeting, Mr. Wallace asked Bishop James “What do you think, preacher?” to which he replied, “I think this will do!” This was the land in the dream where our current building now resides. We were able to pay for the land and instantly got to work to see the dream come to life.

There was a lot of work to be done - removing trees, bulldozing the hill, drawing up plans, and laying foundation. After the initial stages, we were able to move into the fellowship hall and have service there in 2003/2004. After finally finishing the entire building, we were able to have our church dedication in September of 2005. Bro. James Carney preached it and we had about 120 people present. Money was raised at the dedication to put on the front porch. Years later, Bro. Slaughter and AAA Asphalt would pave our parking lot and put up a new lighted sign up.

Bro. Joshua Slaughter became Pastor in January of 2021. Pastor Slaughter is getting ready to grow the church and is starting a building project to be able to hold and carry out the plans God has for the future of our church.

We have seen many people pass through our doors since building the church. Many stayed with us, some moved on, and some have passed to their eternal reward. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for the future of our church. We want you to be a part of it and see God move! Come Experience Pentecost!
